Il 25 aprile 1945. Solo a Genova la rivolta ebbe inizio il 23 aprile e si svolgeva con duri combattimenti, più che coi tedeschi, con gruppi di fascisti che resistevano ad oltranza, rifiutandosi di arrendersi e deporre le armi. Viceversa il comandante tedesco della piazza di Genova, generale Meinhold, pur disponendo di una intera divisione e di altre unità ben armate e equipaggiate, si arrendeva alle forze partigiane.
