....uscito in barca nelle acque antistanti l'Isola di Dino (Praja a Mare - Cosenza) per pescare insieme ad un amico. Si presume che, probabilmente a causa delle avverse condizioni atmosferiche, i due giovani sono stati costretti a tuffarsi in mare per cercare di raggiungere la riva a nuoto, ma soltanto l'amico di Luigi riusciva nell'intento. Da allora non si hanno più notizie del minore.....

Dopo il suo arrivo in Italia, nel gennaio del '99, Mohamed era già scappato di casa altre due volte ma era stato subito ritrovato, non molto lontano da Adrano. Forse quest'ultima volta potrebbe essere andato più lontano.
